With a big game against the Atlanta Falcons, Pierre Thomas proved that he's a solid fantasy option at the running back position.

The New Orleans Saints won 17-13 over the Falcons, and Thomas had a solid game. He ran for 73 yards while putting up another 57 receiving yards, giving him 12 fantasy points in ESPN's standard scoring leagues and 17 in PPR leagues.

Heading into Sunday, Thomas had 413 yards rushing, 349 yards receiving and four total touchdowns. Including this game, he's only had three games with at least 10 points, but he put up 20 and 22 in the other ones, which came in Week 5 against the Chicago Bears and Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys.

The big issue with Thomas as a fantasy option is the fact that he splits touches with both Darren Sproles and Mark Ingram. However, Sproles was banged up and inactive on Thursday night, and he's had issues with durability this season. Meanwhile, Ingram has been inconsistent during his career, making Thomas the go-to choice.

Even more reassuring is the fact that Thomas has posted at least 10 carries in six games, and at least 10 total touches in all but two.

With the number of carries that Thomas is still able to get, he's still a valuable fantasy option, especially in 12-man leagues. He's a low-end RB2 or a solid flex start in standard leagues, and he's even more valuable in leagues that use PPR scoring. However, with upcoming games against the Seattle Seahawks and Carolina Panthers, don't expect a ton from him until Week 15, which is just in time for the playoffs.
